Monument 2 Backup to Synology NAS DSM 7.0 SMB
Unable to complete setup of Monument 2 (3.0.4) backup to my LAN connected Synology NAS DSM 7.0 over SMB. In the Android App in the Select Network Share page, I can see my NAS as an SMB device. SMB is enabled on the NAS. Trying to select the NAS returns error "Server refused connection".
Selecting Add Network Drive Manually and filling out the Server name, User and Password and Share Name then hitting connect returns "Server Could not be reached".
My phone is on a WiFi that is same subnet as the NAS.
Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Hello Support - I just found a work around to this problem!
I used the tab "Add Network Drive Manually" and used the IP address of my NAS rather than the name of my NAS. That worked!!! Backup is now running.
Still, it is a problem in the app where the NAS name is not correctly resolved. I know for sure that my router has the correct name for my NAS and I also have my NAS setup as a static IP address.

Thanks Jimg944
I tried that. Even though both devices are connected to the same switch, I get the same error whether using the discovered one or the manually add, with name/IP address

I hope it was a joke.
Have the Synology for over 2 years. Its photos feature list is impressive, yet, everything is mediocre at best.
When I needed to find photos of certain people, I connected the laptop to the Synology, and let Windows photos App run its algorithm on the photos. the Synology could not find anything.
Cannot even compare to the experience with the Monument-2 (even with its early stage, slightly buggy, software.

I’ve recently updated to DSM 7, which facilitates use of Synology Photos. Use of the latter is only possible with DSM7, ie it’s new. Have you transitioned to SP, or are you still using one of the former photo apps? And, I found the library on SP to be on a par with Monument. It appears I may have to shelve Monument 1 & 2 anyway, as the transfer process from M1 to M2 has bogged me down 100%. I tried backtracking to M1, but it now won’t read my two HDs. I have now sent off the master HD away in an attempt to recover my data, at around 4TB.
I found that M hadn’t automatically uploaded the 2.6 firmware, which was a surprise as they claim it’s done automatically, which ain’t the case. So I uploaded 2.6 to 1) a flash drive; & 2) an SD card. Both were formatted correctly. I followed the steps from M with each of the two separate devices to no avail. The LED in M1 goes momentarily red & then goes white - full time, ie no update is done. I am at my wits end trying to do the very first step of the M1 to M2 conversion.
The M support team aren’t responsive, which is unfortunate for one-time users like me, who are trying to migrate from M1 to M2. If this process fails, them my hopes to use M1 & M2 are dashed & I’ll have to rely on the relatively new ap, called Synology Photos.
